Tiger Brands Top Employer for sixth consecutive year

29 January 2021

Tiger Brands is proud to have been named a Top Employer for the sixth time at this year’s virtual Top Employer certification ceremony. The Top Employers Institute recognizes employers that showcase the best ‘people-first’ practices across the globe, and has recognized more than 1 691 organisations in 120 countries across five continents in the 30 years of its existence. This year’s celebration theme was “shaping a better world of work”

Being certified as a Top Employer, on multiple occasions, illustrates Tiger Brands’ unwavering dedication to creating an inspiring, diverse and nurturing environment that places its people at the heart of its success. It highlights and celebrates Tiger’s commitment to “growing its own timber” and to creating a great place to work where talented people can innovate as they collaborate to bring Tiger Brands’ purpose of nourishing and nurturing more lives every day to life.

In 2020, Tiger Brands further refined its people strategy with a particular focus on executing targeted talent development and acquisition, virtual employee onboarding, enablement of remote working, leadership capability-building, employee experience and wellbeing. The Tiger online onboarding solution ensures that new joiners are properly onboarded despite having to work remotely as they join the organisation during the Covid 19 pandemic. Tiger Brands also instituted on-site Covid-19 support programmes, including its THRIVE employee wellbeing programme, which reached their workforce of over 11 500 employees across over 40 sites.

“Tiger Brands is committed to ensuring that our people are provided with a work environment that cultivates their unique talents, ignites them to develop their true potential so that they bring their A game and their full vibrant selves to work. Our focus, this last year, has centred on supporting our people as they navigated and came face to face with the devastating impact of Covid 19. To this end, we continued to nurture an agile and winning company culture to inspire our people to innovate so that they could continue to deliver value to our consumers in a tough socio-economic environment. ” says S’ne Magagula, Chief HR Officer at Tiger Brands “The heartbeat of Tiger Brands is certainly our people. It is a great honour that this recognition comes as we celebrate 100 years of delivering leading food, personal and home-care brands to homes across South Africa and the continent. It’s a reminder that we would never have become the force that we are today, had we not placed a premium on creating a great place to work where our talented people can grow, thrive, innovate and indeed “roar” into the future. Here’s to the next 100 years of igniting Africa’s tomorrow,” she concluded.
