We are shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of Peter Matlare. Our deepest condolences to Peter’s wife Nomvula and their three daughters during this extremely difficult time. Peter served as CEO of Tiger Brands from 2008 until 2015. His leadership values, ethos, personality and influence are still very much felt in the corridors at Tiger Brands, along with his legacy forever moulding the path we walk as an organisation.
He had a vision of creating a “new” Tiger that would showcase all the talent of our continent and strove to build the first African FMCG Champion, a vision that attracted some great talent to the company. In pursuing this, he had the courage to invest in growing our business outside of South Africa. This courage only exceeded by the way he subsequently owned and took personal accountability for these investment decisions.
On behalf of the board, employees and CEO Noel Doyle, Tiger Brands extends its deepest sympathies to Peter’s wife, daughters, family, friends and colleagues, current and past. South Africa has lost one of its business stalwarts, may his memory serve as an inspiration to all of us.
