PRECAUTIONARY VOLUNTARY RECALL OF BENNY FLAVOURED STOCK CUBES DUE TO INACCURATE NUTRITIONAL LABELLING

Johannesburg, 21 August 2025 – Tiger Brands is initiating a precautionary voluntary recall of its Benny Beef Flavoured Stock Cubes and Benny Chicken Flavoured Stock Cubes, manufactured for its Culinary Division by a third-party supplier, due to inaccurate nutritional labelling on the pack. 

The company decided to initiate the precautionary voluntary recall after consultation with the National Consumer Commission, even though it has not received consumer complaints about the impacted products. This decision is in line with its commitment to the highest quality standards and in the best interests of its consumers.  

Tiger Brands is working with its retail and wholesale customers to remove all impacted Benny Flavoured Stock Cube products from store shelves. This precautionary voluntary recall does not include any other products marketed and sold under the Benny brand.

Products forming part of this recall include the 12, 24 and 48 cube pack sizes of Benny Flavoured Stock Cubes in Beef and Chicken flavour with a Best Before date of 31 July 2027 or any date prior.

Consumers are encouraged to return their Benny Beef Flavoured Stock Cubes and Benny Chicken Flavoured Stock Cubes to the supermarket, wholesaler, or retail outlet from which they purchased the product, or contact the consumer careline for more details, to receive a full cash refund or a coupon from Thursday, 21 August 2025. No proof of purchase is required.

Benny Flavoured Stock Cubes are recent additions to Tiger Brands’ Culinary Division ingredient segment offering, launched in trade at the beginning of 2023. The Culinary Division will endeavour to make Benny stock cubes available again for sale once the labelling information is rectified.
